Pink Seersucker Fabric - completed 29-3-06
Here's a pic of another little pink dress made for our youngest grandchild, Billie-Anne. Her 1st Birthday is on 7th April and we will be visiting Benalla this weekend to see her and DD & SIL. It is made with a stripe seer sucker and looks very pretty - if I say so myself . As I haven't made many clothes for the grandies lately it is nice to enjoy making pretty dresses for the girls as we have 7 grandsons and only 2 grand-daughters.

More Thanks to everyone helping with the making of Charity Quilt Blocks for the Stawell Quilters. A big thanks to Judy Stewart who has enlisted the help of more friends from Caloundra Quilting Club. I expect the blocks from Marilyn T, Pat T and Marilyn Duncan are all your quilting friends Judy - Please pass on my thanks to these ladies from me and from the Stawll Quilters won't you.
I just wish I had a FQ of each of the fabrics used in some of these blocks as the fabric is just beautiful and it is so humbling to receive so many blocks from our Forum Friends but for their friends to also pitch in - that's just great and I can't thank you enough. A few other forum friends have mentioned that their friends will also help out too.
Denise and Jeanne are from my own sewing group and did these extra's through last week. We now have another 13 in the pizza box (35 have been posted already.) It is so pleasing to receive so many and more are due in the mail any day.

BIG THANK YOU for a Forum Friend who put me onto these gorgeous patterns. This is the Eliza Jane Smart Tote Bag and is being posted tomorrow with my thanks. The bag is proving a big hit and I'm sew-happy about that.
Am sewing another cute pink dress for our little GD, Billie-Anne, as we shall visit her for her 1st birthday this Saturday. A week earlier than her birthday but there's so much on the next weekend. I'll post pics when it is finished.

4 Autumn Blocks Made by Spooky (Sharyn)
Here's some more great blocks for the Stawell Quilters to whip into a quilt. These came from Spooky on the craft forum. Thanks Spooky - I know it was quite a "challenge" for you to get them done by the end of the Commonwealth Games.
Sharyn participated in a "Commonwealth Challenge" for the ladies on my "fave forum" (see link on the side panel). This part of the challenge for Spooky was to make something to give away. Spooky said in a lovely card to me "this was the feel good job and I hope they keep rolling in for you". Thanks so much Spooky - we all "feel good" to do something for someone else and I'm sure you'll be kindly rewarded for your generosity. The fabrics are lovely and so is your workmanship Spooky.
Hugs and much appreciation

Ronnie's 1st "Eliza Jane Smart" Tote Bag with Slip Cover On
The plain "Autumn Leaves" fabric on the "Eliza Jane Smart" Tote Bag
I went to Spotlight yesterday (25/3/06) to get more handles - the bug has bitten and am mad keen now to make bags - this is such a fabulous size bag - 11" high x 15" x 4" across the base with 6 internal pockets. The handles are permanent on this version but the option is open for changeable handles too. The pattern is available on my web site at
www.sew-happy.com.
Whilst in Spotlight I was approached by 2 ladies who asked about the bags as I was carrying both (pictured) and a stack of lovely handles - I gave out two business cards and then chatted with the ladies at the sales counters about this fabulous new concept of "changeable covers and handles".
The "Eliza Jane Smart" Tote Bag is fabulous in itself as it has 4 diffent views on the pattern for 4 different looks. You could make lots more adaptable ideas from this pattern. Obviously I was very proud to say that I am importing the patterns and, to date, no-one else in Australia has them for sale here.
I can make the Tote Bag in colour choices of your own if you wish and my prices are quite reasonable. I can't quote a price as every bag is a little different, e.g. fabric cost, closure requirements, handles - and they're not so cheap, etc. So if you like the look of the "Eliza Jane Smart" tote bag please email me at
info@sew-happy.com and we shall work out what you need and want with your own Tote bag.
Then off I went to visit my parents yesterday after shopping around in Spotlight and both my Mum and Sister showed a big interest in the Tote Bag. Looks like a few birthday pressies on the agenda now.
I hope you like it as much as I do.

THE 'GRACE SMART' HAND BAG
My 1st "Grace Smart" Handbag without Slip Cover
My 1st "Grace Smart" Hand Bag - with Slip Cover
Hi Everyone,
The first "Grace Smart" Hand Bag is finished and already a couple of patterns have sold. Note the different handles - same bag but changeable covers and handles. How neat is that?
It is a lovely bag with an internal pocket and zipped closure for added safety. It will make the ideal everyday hand bag - just change the cover to suit your clothing or mood. I love it and have already dumped my big sewing bag. For those who know me - I have carried the big fabric monstrosity every where and it has every thing but the kitchen sink in it. I must admit the comments received on the "Grace Smart" hand bag have been really favourable and I am happy to make more slip covers and take it every where I go.
Hope you like it too. If you're not into sewing one for yourself then just email me at info@sew-happy.com and let's discuss colour and price so that you can have a "Grace Smart" hand bag and multiple slip covers too.

Our youngest grandchild, Billie-Anne, is having her first birthday soon and after waiting 10 years for her to be a reality it is so hard to believe that this last year has flown by so quickly. I've been busy making her a Cowgirl dress and thought I'd post a pic of it on here. Isn't she just gorgeous?

Pat C's Charity Block
Pat's block arrived today with my 4 x 6 1/2" block swap. Another gorgeous choice of fabrics and lovely workmanship. I am tickled pink with the great job everyone is doing for this worthy cause. Thanks Pat.
Lynda H's Charity Blocks
Hi Lynda, Finally found a spot for the pics. I couldn't fit anymore on the other site. Your blocks are perfect and the colours are beautiful Autumn Tones, my photography does not do them justice. Thanks Lynda.
HALLS GAP CHARITY QUILT BLOCKS
Above are the pics of blocks made by my forum friends. A cry for help and we have so many participating that I am humbled by the fantastic response to this worthy cause.
I can't stop saying THANK YOU to all those who have donated their time and fabric and for their lovely workmanship and great choice of Autumn colours.
The block required is a Lone Star or the Ohio Star with a border and the variations coming in are just gorgeous.
Also, because I've run out of space on the Aussie Craft Mags site to post these pics I shall just keep adding to here and see how many I can add in a month. There must be a limit - so lets try it.

The Baton Relay Runner at Gisborne Roundabout
Here's the runner coming through the roundabout at Gisborne. Note the fountain in the background - it's on the banner. Another hot day but everyone came out to see the baton come through the town. Council gave out, free to each child, an Aussie Flags on a stick and a "clapper" that sounded just like a real "applause". Noisy but good fun.... The local Police and the Commonwealth Games entourage had water pistols and squirted the kids as they drove through town. The kids loved it - I did too....
Council is having a Picnic at Hanging Rock (hope no-one disappears) on Wednesday night (15/3/06 at 5pm) to enjoy the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony on the giant screens with African music, entertainment and presentations to all those involved e.g. the kids who made silk flags and us Banner girls, etc. There must be hundreds of people involved - so will be interesting to see the presentations.
I'll post another blog after Wednesday night as it will be a great night - just to watch the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games on the big screen will be great.

The Commonwealth Games Banner
My Sewing Group Friends Front Row: Jeanne, Julie, Wendy & Trisha (Ted)
Back Row: Helena, Ronnie, Leanne & Nola (Nutty Nola)
Here's the banner made for our local Council, Macedon Ranges Shire Council. It was commissioned for the events to be held locally (Macedon Ranges/Gisborne area). This pic was taken on 3rd March, 2006, in the park opposite the Gisborne Library (where we meet each Friday afternoon). I have been a little slack updating the blog but better late than never.
The banner has a pic of four of the main town's landmarks on the bottom row, e.g. the Fountain in Gisborne, the Clocktower in Woodend, the Cross on Mt Macedon and the Bluestone Bridge at Riddells Creek. The top row shows the Sth African Flag and our Aussie Flag - apparently our Council has a sister city in Sth Africa, pardon my ignorance - I don't know which city in Sth Africa.
Council was tickled pink with the effort put into the banner and sent around the local press to take our pic for the newspaper - it's not worth putting it on the blog since we were all so disappointed in it being only about 2" square and you couldn't see the banner anyway. The reporter got our name wrong and it is also a out of focus. Not happy.........Jannnn !!

Ronnie at Kyneton Artist's Market 11th March, 2006
Hi Everyone !!
I've been a little on the busy side lately and, as a lot of you already know, I tried my hand at a craft market in the hope that I could promote my web site, the fabric bowls, boxes and bags, a few quilts I'd like to sell. I also sold choccies, soap, lavender and pot pouri bags at $2.50 each for the Halls Gap Charity Quilt Blocks Fundraiser to buy Autumn tone fabrics for our sewing group. We raised $27.00.
The pic above shows that the table is full of small items for sale as I've been busy making these for about 6 weeks to bring in a few "less expensive" items. Of course I had Mum's knitted coat hangers and some fabric (FQ's) and sewing notions for two friends who had both closed their shops. I only sold a few of my own items, the fundraiser was quite successful so am off to Spotlight for the fabrics on Wednesday.
I sold heaps for Mum and everyone else and earned myself $20.25 - then deduct from that the fuel and a cold drink - obviously I don't think I'll do another market too soon, except that I have lots of stock so maybe I should - who knows !! On top of all that the wind and dust was annoying and I was wearing a hat, sunnies and SP30 protection and still got burnt, maybe windburn. I'm OK now - two days later.
Hugs to all
