The Baton Relay Runner at Gisborne Roundabout
Here's the runner coming through the roundabout at Gisborne. Note the fountain in the background - it's on the banner. Another hot day but everyone came out to see the baton come through the town. Council gave out, free to each child, an Aussie Flags on a stick and a "clapper" that sounded just like a real "applause". Noisy but good fun.... The local Police and the Commonwealth Games entourage had water pistols and squirted the kids as they drove through town. The kids loved it - I did too....
Council is having a Picnic at Hanging Rock (hope no-one disappears) on Wednesday night (15/3/06 at 5pm) to enjoy the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony on the giant screens with African music, entertainment and presentations to all those involved e.g. the kids who made silk flags and us Banner girls, etc. There must be hundreds of people involved - so will be interesting to see the presentations.
I'll post another blog after Wednesday night as it will be a great night - just to watch the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games on the big screen will be great.

For one fleeting moment I thought I was in front row next to Ted(VBG).Then I realised it wasn't me!
Good job Ronnie and girls;the banner looks great.
I'm probably asking a dumb question...what's the significance of the S.African flag?
